Square Footage x Desired Depth (in inches) / 12 = Cubic Feet

Cubic Feet / 27 = Yards needed

One cubic yard = 9 of the 3- cubic- foot-sized bags

One cubic yard = 13.5 of the 2- cubic- foot-sized bags

It’s normal practice to mulch in the spring and again in the fall. The mulch may be raked or turned over to refresh the color and aerate the surface.

Along with being aesthetically pleasing, mulch helps to retain moisture while reducing the amount of water your plants and trees need. It can also assist with weed control.
